72c transmission has loud whining noise in reverse.

I have a 72c transmission that is brand new and when it is in reverse it makes and whining noise. It pulls very good and seems to shift into forward and reverse normally. Is this a normal noise for a 72c in reverse? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
