I've had this transmission out twice now. The leak is coming through the shaft at the key way. The mechanic who worked on it the last time replaced the exterior coupler and said the teeth were slightly knife edged. It was fine for two weeks, then it started leaking as usual. He told me the shaft inside the transmission is probably knife edged also, causing play between the teeth. This marine mechanic doesn't seem too interested in going inside the transmission to fix it. If this is the reason for the leak is it a big deal to replace the shaft inside the transmission. Any ideas?
