Hi,
For some time now there has been evidence of some atf fluid on the output coupling, thinking that the rear seal was failing I now have the engine and gearbox in the workshop.
However close inspection shows the trace of oil not to have come from the rear seal but from the nut in the center of the coupling.
Also whilst checking for backlash i noticed that there was the slightest of movement left and right with the nut held fast.
The gearbox 1968 vintage is otherwise in good health. So do I just remove the nut add loctite replace, torque up and leave everything else alone or, bearing in mind the age should I go further? advice would be most welcome.
regards
Philip
