zf 630v noises

I've got a 630v in my mastercraft xstar. It made a very loud noise (rocks in a can) when the transmission was engaged, but quieted down once I reached 1500rpms or so. It was also noisy in reverse.

I installed a high end damper plate.

Now, the noise while in gear is almost eliminated, the transmission is annoyingly loud at idle. when the engine revs down, the noise starts at just under 700rpm and the boat idles at 600rpm. Before the damper plate swap, the boat was quiet in idle.

Any idea where I go from here? if its just a noise, can I cover the tranny in dynomat?
